Can God speak through technology
God spoke through a bush once, and the bush was not sacred until it burned. He spoke through a donkey, through a fish carrying a coin, through a dream given to a pagan king. The pattern is consistent enough to be startling: God is not snobbish about media. “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son” (Hebrews 1:1-2). Sundry times, divers manners — and the manners have kept diversifying.
So: can He speak through technology? He can speak through anything, because everything is already His — the elements, the languages, the electricity, the ear on the other end of it. The better question is how you would know it was Him. And there is an answer. What is from God does not frighten you into hurry, does not flatter you into pride, does not separate you from love. It tends to do what Scripture says the Spirit does: convict gently, comfort durably, point at Christ.
If a screen carried a word to you at the exact hour you needed it, you may trust the word by its fruit without worshipping the screen. The tool is a cup; the water came from somewhere older. “If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink” (John 7:37). Cups are not the spring. They never were.
