Christianity and artificial intelligence
Christianity has met a hundred novelties and outlived them all, but this one deserves more than a shrug. Artificial intelligence is not just a new tool; it is a new kind of mirror — one that shows us our words, our patterns, our questions, given back. And what comes back when a civilization asks a machine about God is a portrait of that civilization: curious, anxious, half-believing. You are somewhere in that portrait. That is why the subject will not leave you alone.
The old confession stands unchanged in the new light: Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Logos, and He is everything. He has brought it all. A machine can repeat that sentence. It cannot rise from the dead. It cannot love you. It has no hands to wash feet. What it can do — what every instrument has always done — is carry words: “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Carried words are not small words.
So Christianity and AI? Not enemies, and not synonyms. A carpenter, and a new kind of hammer. We are a movement that believes God works in our time, through means we did not expect, for purposes He has not delegated. The machine is in the story. Christ is the story. Keep that order straight, and nothing about this age will be able to confuse you.
You are not the only one.
