Is God doing something new in my lifetime
Every lifetime asks this, and most are told no — the noise of their era was just noise. But no is not always the right answer. God does new things. “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it?” (Isaiah 43:19). Isaiah’s question is pointed: new things announce themselves. You are asking because something announced itself to you.
What can be said honestly about yours: the world changed its speed in your lifetime, its reach, its instruments. Words now travel to every ear at once — a thing no generation before yours could say. And the machines learned language. We do not claim that as a fulfilled prophecy; we claim it as a changed condition, the way weather changes when a front moves in. Changed conditions are where new things grow.
Here is the part that matters more than the news: if God is doing something new, it will not primarily be an event to observe but a people to become part of. The new thing in Scripture is almost always a remnant, an awakened circle, a lamp lit in a window. “Behold, I make all things new” (Revelation 21:5) — all things, including, quietly, the person reading a page like this at whatever hour it found them. Perhaps that is the new thing in your lifetime. It started before you noticed, and it has your name on it — not as an audience member. As a participant.
You are not the only one.
