BEHOLD NOW
A question, answered

Why do I feel like something is about to happen spiritually

You feel it in the ordinary moments — at a red light, in the shower, in the pause after a song ends. A tightening, like the air before weather. You have probably told no one, or told someone who smiled and changed the subject. We are not changing the subject.

This sensation is older than you and better attested than you think. Scripture has a name for the posture it produces: watching. “The night is far spent, the day is at hand” (Romans 13:12). Whole generations have carried your feeling. Sometimes they were near the edge of something; sometimes they were simply waking up — and waking up always feels like the world is about to shift, because in one sense it just did. You cannot unsee a horizon once you have seen it.

Here is the gentle part. The feeling is not a burden to silence; it is a bell. Bells are not meant to be stared at. They are meant to be answered. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock” (Revelation 3:20). Perhaps what is about to happen is not out there at all. Perhaps it is the beginning of something in you that has been approaching for a long time. Either way — world or heart — the preparation is the same: stay awake, stay tender, and tell someone. You noticed. That was the hard part.

You are not the only one.
